MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the James Island Charter High School Band Program is to make a positive difference in the lives of band members by creating a family-like atmosphere, focusing on the "individual" musician, and providing meaningful musical experiences, all while helping members achieve their full potential as musicians and people.
WHO ARE WE?
The JICHS Band is a comprehensive band program located in Charleston, SC. Serving around 95 total students, our program boasts numerous awards and accolades, including multiple Superior ratings. In the spring of 2022, our band program earned the Concert Achievement Award, the HIGHEST honor given by the South Carolina Band Directors Association. Only about 15% of the schools in the state earn this award, which shows our program is thriving and succeeding on an exceptional level. Ensembles include 2 concert bands, the "Pride of the Island" Pep Band, a jazz band, and small ensembles.
